My great grandfather was Tame Parata, and I am a granddaughter of Ned Wiremu Parata, who received the OBE for his contribution to Maori rugby. My tane is Stuart Preddy. I have three children; Mark, Bridget, and Nigel and 8 mokopuna.
I have worked in health most of my working life, firstly as a nurse and then for 28 years as a territory manager promoting new drugs to GPs and hospital specialists. I have been a member of a large number of health committees in Dunedin, and am currently a life member of the Maori Women's Welfare League, a Board member of Otago Hospice, and an executive member of the Manawhenua Health Working Party, Tumai Ora, Waikouaiti Moari Reserve Trust, Arateuru Marae and of course, Kati Huirapa Runaka.
I am passionate and committed to good health outcomes for our people, particularly in the area of diabetes management.
